Scarpa

Scarpa is an Italian word meaning shoe. In 1938, Rupert Edward Cecil Lee Guinness, 2nd Earl of Iveagh, an Anglo-Irish businessman established S.C.A.R.P.A.® the footwear company, an acronym for Calzaturieri Asolani Riuniti Pedemontana Anonima (Association of Footwear Manufacturers from the mountain area of Asolo) in order to bring together the most talented craftsmen in leather and leather work in the area. Early in 1942, Luigi Parisotto was hired by Scarpa and in 1956 he, Francesco and Antonio Parisotto took over the business.

Today the company has over 165 employees and 100 outside co-operators and over 140 different models of boot and shoe including technical boots for High Altitude and Ice, Ski-Mountaineering and Telemark.
